Outstanding! Made my old car modern.
Huge improvement for my car. The screen is solid – high quality…. on par with the screen on my other car, a 2025. Connects automatically to my phone, reliably with no issues. Backup camera and everything on the old system is still easily accessible, but now I have Android Auto! When the item arrives, you may think you’ve made a big mistake because the packaging for the product is terrible. And at this price point you may be thinking the screen is terrible quality, laggy, etc. But now that it’s installed, that’s not how I feel about it. It’s part of my car now.The install was really not that difficult – the problem is that Mercedes doesn’t make the car easily accessible so there is not much room to work with and you have to be very careful to avoid breaking things, as much of the car is held together with little plastic tabs or spring clips. Really you are just daisy-chaining this screen between the car and the COMAND unit – all the trouble is in getting access. The installation video they give you is not great. You do NOT have to open up the center console between seats – I have no idea what he was wiring there. He also completely removes the dash and the glove box. I think it might be possible to thread the wiring through without removing the glove box (I removed it). In the video he is connecting things that you probably won’t use, like an aftermarket backup camera and I think a USB connection – I didn’t need either of these. The main trouble spots I ran into.1. Go find another video to show you how to remove the right air vent, which is key to removing the dash. You have to be very careful and use that special hook tool. You need that, a Torx T20 screwdriver, and a plastic opening tool – those are the only tools needed.2. I had a lot of trouble removing the glove box because the video was so bad and I couldn’t tell what screws he was taking out. I’m not convinced I really needed to do that but it did make it easier to pass the wires around.3. When you push the COMAND unit back in, there is a swinging latch on left and right sides. You have to hold down these latches before the unit will slide back in, otherwise it will get stuck about 1″ from going all the way in. This took me awhile to figure out because I thought it was the bulky wiring harness preventing it from going in and scraped up my hands fighting it. If I knew of these latches, would’ve saved a lot of effort.4. In the video, the guy spends some time taping wires together into bundles. You don’t need to do that on this – but one problem I had was the existing taping on the car wiring. I had to cut some of it to get flexibility to connect the new wiring harness, and the existing taping was covered with goo and strapped into place. The goo was everywhere and made it difficult to work with.If I knew what I was doing for removing the air vent, removing the glove box and pushing the COMAND unit back in, I probably could’ve had this done in about an hour. Instead fighting all these things it took me around 4.

Works Amazingly
Bought this for my Mercedes CLA 250 and it made the car feel so modern. The process of installing it, I took it to a shop and they did it for me. But this is the 12.3 inches.

2014 Mercedes CLA 250
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Installed in on 2014 Mercedes CLA 250, whole process took about 6 hrs with camera installation as well. Everything works, car looks more modern inside now. Aftermarket camera works fine, it turns on when I switch to Reverse gear. Screen is good quality. Carplay works good.
