Very good little mount for hard surfaces. Misleading directions, NOT for soft/upholstered surfaces!
First, this is a fine little non-magnetic mount — especially if you need a bit of an arm for positioning, but don’t need a full telescoping mount or a gooseneck.I’m using it on the dash of a small SUV with a pretty vigorous ride, and it holds an iPhone 8 in a smooth case very securely. Yes there’s some vibration — it’s not a SteadyCam — but the phone doesn’t slip and the mount doesn’t make the vibration worse.Very good range of positioning, easy to insert & remove the phone with one hand if you stick an edge against one ear of the mount and push over far enough to clear the opposite ear, then let the mount grip & center. Pretty much like most non-magnetic vent mounts.The caveats:You should _never_ use a suction mount on a soft surface, or on a surface that’s covered (like in the big photo for the product!). Not even on a surface with just a little bit of “give”. The suction will tear the surface layer away from the padding underneath and wreck your dashboard. This is true for all suction mounts, not just this specific product. You’ve been warned.The description, pictures, and instructions for this mount confuse “texture” and padding — and tell you to use the included secondary disk on “textured” surfaces.My dashboard is hard plastic with a leather texture. The mount’s primary suction cup has a layer of clear gel that conforms to this texture and is holding fine — no need for the secondary disk.The secondary disk (“dashboard pad”) that the manufacturer instructs you to use on “textured” surfaces is _not_ the same as the gooey secondary disks that other mounts (like iOttie) use — all it is is a hard plastic circle that is smooth on one side (to give the mount’s suction cup something to grip), and a layer of 3M VHB on the other side. 3M VHB is a PERMANENT adhesive (“VHB” stands for Very High Bond). The instructions appear to suggest that this is removable and re-usable. It’s neither. DO NOT use the secondary disk on anything you might want to remove it from later.That said, it’s a good little mount if you use it appropriately.

Very well made, perfect for me
I use the holder on my windshield without the plastic film that’s included. After reading other reviews, I wasn’t sure if it would fall off or if it would be sturdy enough. It’s very sturdy and I can’t imagine it will ever fall off! The suction cup is made from some sort of incredibly sticky stuff! If I ever want to take it off, that may be a problem, but hopefully that will be a very long time in the future.It’s easy to put the phone in and out when using 2 hands. Because of other reviews, I don’t want to try forcing the phone in 1 handed. That’s a small price/effort to pay to ensure it’s longevity.I’m very pleased with it. But, if you have a extra long reach between you and where you want it on your windshield, this may not be for you. It’s maybe 4 or 5 inches long. But, that’s perfect for me in my Lexus RX300.

Phoe grip part disappointing after 18 months…
Worked great at first, like it alot…but after awhile, the phone holder clamp seem to get slippery and allowed the phone to slide down on less than steller roads, unfortunately shutting it off occasionally…ordered another to see if I got a “one-off”…tried “cleaning the phone grip area and no change…guess it might be limited to around 18 month useful like on the grippy part…

Best one yet
I have tried many phone holders for my Jeep in the past but none work better than this one it’s sturdy doesn’t move around and holds my phone in a very tight position. My phone just barely fits with the case and I have the Galaxy note 10 plus. But PLEASE NOTE it is very hard to remove once it’s suction cuped in. So I suggest once you find the location that you want it in make sure that’s where you want it because it is very hard to remove its possible but very hard. My suggestion is leave the plastic on before even trying to stick it on because even without suction cuped, it sticks very hard.

Super Suction!
These have some serious suction!! They even work on a desk. The holder is able to be locked on & the suction side had some stickiness to it to help hold in place. It also came with double sided adhesive for a more permanent hold. They were very cost effective. The only down fall was I needed 18 of them, but was only able to order 5 or less at a time.

Does not stay in place
Bought this because of the advertised suction cup with sticky gel that works on unsmooth surfaces. My dash has a light texture so based on what was stated, I expected it to stay in place. Mounted it on the dash surface and within minutes it came off. I then put it on a smooth plastic flat surface. Seemed ok, but overnight it came off. I put it on the glass which was clean and smooth. Drove with the phone mounted on the glass for 2+ hours in the evening. Went to eat dinner and an hour later, it fell off the glass even though the phone was not mounted on it! Everything else worked ok. The mount held my S9+ with case without issue, The phone was secure and stayed in place. The suction cup was no good. I was very surprised because the cup is very sticky and stays in place once it contacts the surface, but not for long. Last thing I need is to have the mount come loose while driving. Not recommended.

good: it works really well on smooth surface.not so good: after about 1-1.5 year rubber part seems to began disintegrating. It becomes very sticky, soft and gooey, so that it is very hard to pull it off windshield without what it feels like leaving rubber pieces on glass.but !!! at +/-$11 it is a great buy!

Great product
I really like the ease of use on this product. I use it to/attached to the window of my vessel. I am able to have my phone at my fingertips if somebody calls me, or to Bluetooth, my music, or to answer a text while we are fishing. I also have one in my ski boat for playing music, and all of the same uses. no more having my phones flopping around the boat going over waves, etc. I believe I am going to buy two more and put them on the passenger side windows for my wife or friend. Whoever is with me. They are a great value and work awesome.
