Leave your car alone and put CarPlay on your dashboard
This screen is a great way to add carplay to your older car. It also serves several other functions:* CarPlay adapter – does a great job. Takes a few seconds to connect and you might need a try or two to get it set up with your phone. Screen is bright and wide aspect ratio has a more modern feel.* AirPlay receiver – tested this and it works. Watch movies from your phone (while parked!).* Dash cam – front and rear. This means you can take something OFF your dash to make room for your new screen. Resolution is good. Angle is not as flexible as a dedicated dashcam, but worth it for less clutter.* FM (or Bluetooth or AUX) adapter. I use the FM adapter and the signal is very strong, comes through clearly. You won’t want to use the unit’s built-in speakers for music.* Backup cam (additional purchase required – the old backup cams I had were not compatible) – another great feature that is worth setting up.I initially wanted to use the suction mount, but it (and the 3M adhesive disks) are worthless on a textured, sloped dashboard. The included stand works great, and you can remove it from the mount with one screw if you’re worried about theft. The most common issue and resolution is to ensure the unit is getting enough power (not booting, weak FM signal), sometimes you just need to push the USB-C plug in all the way. The other troubleshooting is simply forgetting the unit in Bluetooth settings and re-adding it.Bonus – you can turn off the tap/button press sounds in the settings.

Good product and excellent customer service
I bought this portable car play stereo after trying other models that did not work for me. This one addressed most of the features I had been concerned about. I used the dashboard sticker stand and it worked well. It appears to be stable and sturdy so far. The stereo is also easily detached from the stand which is an important feature to me to prevent theft. After installation, i was having some problems with operational functioning and my manual did not seem in sync with the product. I contacted customer service and received a prompt response on the same day. I was sent a video as to how to connect it but this did not solve the problems I was having, because it showed a different connection than I was using. I again received a quick response and was told I would be sent a firmware update as this seemed to be the problem. Once that was done operation was smooth and quick. The customer service representative also followed up to see if this had resolved my issues. If you are on the fence about getting this one, I would say go for it! I have not really tried the camera yet , but all of the other features are now working well and serve the purpose of providing car play in my 2013 CRV. Also customer service was very helpful should you have any problems or concerns.

Works great, does take a bit of set up, ui is a bit slow
Does what it needs to, CarPlay works fine. Start up is a little slow and overall the user interface is a bit laggy but it’s workable. Install is easy for basic setup but if you want the back up camera feature and rear dash cam it takes some wiring

The plug started SMOKING after a month of use.
I very rarely write negative reviews, but I had this in my car for about a month, and the fuse for the cigarette lighter popped. In investigating that, I discovered this thing was making the fuses pop. After it popped three, I started with everything unplugged, and investigated the wiring in the cigarette lighter. Everything checked out, so I replaced the fuse (with number 4…) and started by plugging in the power plug, with the power lead not connected to the unit. As soon as I connected power to the unit, the fuse popped again. I went through a couple more fuses, trying different orders of connecting the power to the unit. The last time I tried, I heard a “zzzzzz” sound, and the plug started SMOKING. So….This thing could have started my car on fire. I tried to go the cheap route to add a capability to an older car I’m using temporarily, but BUYER BEWARE of this thing. I threw it in the trash, and ordered an indash unit. Good luck, and stay safe if you try this thing out.

This is the one to buy!
I was apprehensive of size, thought it would be too large and interfere with driving. Nope. Just fine. I tried window mount and dash mount, both were fine, but I liked it mounted on dash better.The ease of connecting was great . I disconnected my phone via Bluetooth completely. iPhone, forget this device. The sound is not great so I used the FM connection, very easy. Tune device and radio to same frequency, it has to be a frequency not used by radio station. Note: a little tricky to get device to give you a station. I unplugged device and plugged back in and the option appeared.I did have trouble formatting the SD card. Pamphlet isn’t very clear and they refer to it as ST. It’s a micro SD card, not included. I formatted on laptop and then installed, from setting, scroll down towards bottom and hit format and you’re good to go. If you want to split screen your camera and a map or music app and see the road, this is where you’ll choose that option.Overall, using through car speakers, sound is great. Color didn’t need adjusting. Basically this is same setup you get with a brand new vehicle. I opted for this because I don’t like having a car payment and it’s exactly the same.Glad I got this one. Waiting on company to email me directions to have my car logo at startup, but even if I don’t switch it, it’s not a deal breaker.I will add it shuts off when I turn off car and it turns on automatically when I start the car.Any issues I’ve seen in reviews must be user error. I had no issue, just don’t have car, phone and device all connected. With this you don’t need your phone and device both connected. I think that’s what is causing issues with some users.Overall, glad I picked this one!

Although the screen works well and I can connect Android Auto the FM transmit feature does not work well at all, have tried FM 88 to 108 in 1 steps and static and poor sound one each frequency. I have reverted to syncing audio to my phone Bluetooth. The inbuilt speakers are useless and sound is tinny and poor. Unfortunately my car radio does not have a aux jack otherwise that would be an option. Perhaps I should have paid more for a known brand, I will test and if not good I will send it back for a refund.
