Good general purpose towels, more information needed.
I’ll start this review with a pet peeve…lack of information. Since these towels are “Crafted for car enthusiasts and professionals…”, Sub Labs needs to do a better job.Especially for towels that are intended to come into contact with my vehicles’ paint, I want to know a lot about them. Typically that would include the following (and whether or not that info is supplied):Weight of material in GSM (grams per square meter: 400 GSMComposition of fabric, polyester to polyamide percentages: ?? (This one is particularly important to me)Edgeless or bound edges (if bound, with what): Packaging and photo: Edgeless. Title and description: Silk bandedConstruction (Twisted loop, waffle weave, etc): Dual nap long one side, short on reverse.Country of manufacture of the material (typically Korea or China, Korea produces better): ??I like the packaging these come in and the color. I pointed out the discrepancy about the edge construction above. Mine are edgeless, but the edges are stiff and a bit scratchy. I’m not sure if the edges were cut ultrasonically or heat sealed, but that stiffness will keep them from being used on my paint….interior or trim use only. I would prefer silk banded to the way these edges are finished. These did well in the washer with very little color bleed and and no perceptible linting. All in all, I like these towels. I wish Suds Lab would include more information about them, correct the edge construction listing discrepancy and arrange for the edges to be finished better.

Versatile Without Skimping on Quality
Initial Unboxing:The product comes in a plastic packaging that includes some information about the microfiber towels and a hole that you can use to feel the texture of the microfiber towels. This should include 12 microfiber towels, but for some reason, mine came with an extra towels which is 13 towels. So I hope Suds Lab does make sure they check on how many towels they ship before sending them to people.Using the Product:I like to wash any microfiber towels before using on my cars. Use a liquid laundry detergent with no dyes or scents, as well as no fabric softeners. After washing them, dry them in a dryer on the tumble dry setting on the lowest heat possible for about 30 minutes to an hour. I haven’t used them on anything else beside the exterior, but this should provide a good baseline on how well it performs. I sprayed on my quick detailer and evenly wiped it along the paint. It felt all pretty smooth and didn’t flop over when moving it around. The towel feels quite soft. Although not as thick as some other microfiber towels, I’d say they are reasonably thick and much better compared to the cheap microfiber towels used for mostly household purposes. It is a good value compared to some of the more popular automotive detailing brands for the quality it provides. It gives a perfect blend of quality and price. It is of course, not as cheap as your Walmart microfiber towels, but I would get this over those towels just because of the quality.Pro Highlights:- Good value- Quite soft- Doesn’t flop over when wiping- Reasonably thick- Versatile- Doesn’t scratch paint- Streak-freeCon Highlights:- No variation of colors for different applicationsGeneral Overview:These are very versatile microfiber towels that blends the value of good quality, reasonable price, and great performance all into one!

I really wanted to love these microfiber towels
I will go out of my way to buy American Made products and support small businesses. So, when I had the opportunity to try these Suds Lab microfiber towels, I jumped at it. While I was not disappointed, I was not overly impressed either. The towels are promoted as having a weight of 400 GSM (grams per sq. meter). I have no way to accurately verify this claim but when I compared them to other microfiber towels I have in the 350 to 450 GSM range they passed the touch test. Usually anything 350 GSM and above is fine for car detailing and will not scratch paint. As far as thickness and absorbency, they are thicker than the budget microfiber towels I have for general shop and house cleaning chores but thinner than the big name (and big cost) ones I have. I would rate the absorbency as above average versus other towels I have in this GSM range. One side of the towel has a longer nap and one side has a shorter nap. There is no information on the packaging, and I could find none in the Amazon product description of the composition of the microfiber (percentages of polyester and polyamide). A quality microfiber should be in the range of 80/20 or 70/30 polyester to polyamide. By not disclosing the blend, I am suspicious it falls outside the preferred range. At only about a dollar and a half per 16 x 16 towel they are priced well below similar sized towels from the well known names on Amazon. However, they are more expensive than similar size and GSM weight microfiber towels I can get locally at HF.My biggest gripe about these towels is not really about the towels themselves. Overall, they are of decent quality and priced fairly based upon their size and features. My issue is with the marketing of the product. The product description clearly states the towels have “silk edges”. If you look closely at the product photos on Amazon, the towels appear to have edging. However, the towels I received were “edgeless” and the packaging they came in plainly states they are edgeless towels. Now, I know some people claim edgeless towels are better but that is not the point. The product description (and photos) should be accurate.More egregious in my opinion is the fact the seller waxes poetic about the quality of Suds Lab products and closes with the claim “Not to mention, our suds lineup is proudly Made in America.” These microfiber towels arrived in packaging clearly labeled Made in China”. (see my photos) Regardless of how you feel about foreign versus American made products, don’t make false claims about the origin of your merchandise.I deducted a star from my rating for seller misrepresentation of the product (silk edge versus edgeless) and its country of manufacture (China versus USA).DISCLAIMER: I am a member of the Amazon Vine program. This means that I receive some products free of charge to use and review. I only request/accept items I will actually use. My reviews are based on this real-world usage – they are not mere regurgitations of the Amazon product description or insincere hype. I am not a shill and I do not consider the fact that an item was provided without charge as part of my ratings. I have given Vine products one star, five stars, and all points in between. A defective, incomplete, dangerous, or fraudulently described item gets 1 star (zero is not an option), a below average product 2, and an average product 3. You have to earn a 4 or 5 star rating. I put serious effort into my reviews and they represent my honest opinion of the product. My hope it they will help someone make an informed, educated choice whether or not a product is right for them.
