Fantastic product. Highly recommend it
I had recently used a rubbing compound to removed road debris and paint from my trucks finish but that left numerous swirl marks all over the vehicle. I checked with a professional detailer on what it would take to remove them. He wanted to charge $900 (not happening!) so I bought this McGuire’s product and it worked out just fantastic to finish. Shines like the truck was brand new. It was easy to apply. Easy to remove. All in all a great product.

2 Year old Paint and Porter Cable 7424XP 6-Inch Variable-Speed Polisher
Since my car is only 2 years old, I chose this Meguiar’s #9 Swirl remover as I didn’t want to have anything too aggressive. The paint was not in too bad a shape as I always used the 2 bucket hand wash method. Just light swirling on my grabber blue paint. To prepare the surface I washed the car then used Meguiar’s clay bar to remove any embedded matter in the paint. Surprising what is in there after only 2 years even though the paint looked clean to the naked eye. After the claying I got out the Porter Cable polisher. Since this is an orbital polisher it is good for anyone who is new to using a power tool on your paint. This was my first time. It was quite simple actually. I mentally divided the hood into 5 section and did one at a time putting an X pattern on the Meguiar’s polishing pad with the #9 Swirl remover. I did 4 section passes on each area and then used a microfiber towel to take off the excess polish. I could immediately see that the pad I used (Meguiar’s 6.5-Inch Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad) was just enough to do an excellent job. You see, since the paint was only 2 years old I didn’t need a too aggressive polish, or a pad that cut too much. So if your car is in similar condition this may be a good combination for you. This I guess is why you do a test are first and not the whole car. After I was satisfied that this was the right combination, I moved on and finished the car. If it did not do the trick, I could use more pressure, a more aggressive pad, ramp up the speed on the polisher (I used setting 5 for this) or maybe bought a more aggressive polish. I really liked this stuff. Quite easy to do and I wasn’t afraid that the polish would burn through my clear coat. I finished it up with Meguiar’s liquid Ultimate Wax. The car looked when I waxed it the first time. I might try topping it off with some carnauba wax, but its not really needed.

Works Perfectly
Removes light scratches and swirls on my Black Truck perfectly. Just make sure surface is very clean and you use non abrasive applicators.

It actually works on a gun safe
I somehow scratched a high-gloss gun safe. In the process of trying to buff out the scratch, I made it worse by leaving a million light surface scratches and swirl marks. This stuff took out all the swirl marks, most of the light surface scratches and even lessened the severity of the original scratch. I applied it twice. It was quick, easy, and worked about as well as I could have hoped for. I’ll try a couple more applications today to see if I can get even better results, but I’m happy with the significant improvement and I’m a perfectionist.

After 20 years, it’s still my favorite car finish product
I was introduced to Meguiar’s tan bottle products about 20 years ago when I asked a man in an auto body shop what products he was using on a car that looked incredible. He told me the key was Meguiar’s #9 Swirl Remover, which, when used properly, removes swirls marks that inevitably get into vehicle paint from things like car washes (or washing at home with dirty water in the bucket or a dirty sponge), or from waxing or polishing with overly coarse compounds.Meguiar’s tan bottle products come in a variety of abrasive formulations, of which Swirl Remover is the most gentle and should be used last. If your vehicle has heavy paint oxidization, you’ll probably need to start with something like #1 Medium Cut Cleaner or #2 Fine Cut Cleaner. It’s the same idea as polishing rocks or jewelry or using sand paper; you start with the highest level of abrasive needed for the job and then work your way up to a light or fine abrasive, which is basically what #9 is.The results with Meguiar’s Swirl Remover are terrific, especially if applied with a machine (you can apply it by hand, but it will take a long time to do it right and you will be tired). I recommend following with a wax that does NOT have a “cleaner” in it, as the cleaner will basically undo the fine polishing that #9 is designed to accomplish. Be sure to use the product on a clean car parked in the shade, preferably on a day with low humidity. Use clean, 100% cotton towels to wipe the product off after it’s dried, or else you’ll end up putting scratches back into the paint.

Simply Great
I am not very experienced in using a polisher but this stuff was easy with fantastic results. I have a black vehicle that’s 25 years old with the original paint and it had many scratches and swirl marks mainly on the hood. I di use Meguires polishing compound first but couldn’t quite get rid of the swirl marks. Rather than paying hundreds of dollars to a professional detailer I thought I would give this a try. I like doing things myself and when it comes out good it’s very rewarding. So I used this on a foam wheel and went over it two times, it removed nearly all of the scratches, ALL of the swirl marks and made that black paint richer and deeper. This stuff is the best I have ever used over the years, I would highly recommend it.

I did a rebuild of my dream guitar. It had been dropped and the edge was damaged. I was very nervous to repair the polyurethane finish to a music industry gloss. I wet sanded a 10 cm section with 800 grit. Hand buffed the swirl remover and like magic I soon had a gloss shine. Took all light scratches quickly off the entire guitar.+++++
