Excellent Brightness, Great Audio. Good enough to replace TV in daytime when using Standard Mode.
The projector doesn’t really hit 5700 usable lumens.. more like 3600-3900 if you’re using it in normal 4K and not HDR. That’s the mode I use and it looks fantastic. I’m using a Vividstorm Titan 180″ ALR screen and screen size is about 170″. I can have all the lights and blinds open during the day and it has completely replaced my TV. I had to stop using HDR because standard mode in regular 4k seems to look much better and brighter. The Harmon Kardon speaker has excellent sound and is very neutral and clear. I’m very happy with the purchase.

Awesome Projector.
The best thing about it is the brightness. Your room doesn’t have to be completely dark for it to work. Although, the darker the room, the better the experience!5 month update:After having it for a few months, I cannot praise it enough. It projects a 172” diagonal image on a grey surface in my garage. The onboard feature set, including auto focus, is tremendous. It is also capable of connecting to multigig Ethernet via USB and therefor streaming at multigig levels is permitted. The internal Google OS is easy to use; as is its HDMI in bound connection from either a streamer like my Apple TV 4K or my LG UHD Blu ray disc player. Regarding the blu ray player connection, the Horizon 20 Max easily handles 3D content when paired with its own branded powered glasses. Transformers Dark of the Moon in 3D and Dolby Atmos was awesome. It also easily handles its outbound HDMI eARC connection to my (Polk Audio Magnifi Max AX SR ) sound bar. All in all, I am still happy with my purchase – especially what you get for the price.

Great but not perfect
Coming from a Benq HT3560 the Horizon 20 Max is an extremely impressive projector. The good:- Incredibly bright, sharp and colorful compared to my old projector.- Motorized lens shift is awesome, so easy to setup compared to physically moving the projector.- Much more quiet than the fan in my old bulb based projector, basically inaudible unless the room is silent.- Swapping between formats like Dolby vision to SDR is super fast.- Gaming is good with ALLM and VRR.- I’ve been using Apple TV 4K, but built in Google tv seems fast and goodThe not so good:- 3D is hard to enable but it does work. You have to manually turn it on every time, the frame packing option doesn’t always show as available. I believe it has some issues with syncing as another website mentioned, as there seems to be something uncomfortable about watching in 3d compared to my old projector. One thing I do like, you can turn off the 3D signal, nice for my kids who don’t like 3D and I don’t have a 2D disc.- DBLE doesn’t work well, but I honestly don’t care that much. My old projector had a noisy clicking dynamic iris that I never use either. I feel like most software solutions aren’t going to work well and are mostly marketing. I felt movies and games already look great, so if you’re on the fence due to DBLE I wouldn’t worry. They are also release more fixes in Feb 2026.Deal breakers for me and why I returned it:- Laser speckle is too noticeable for me. I’m on a 1.1 gain matte white screen (suppose to be near ideal for this) but just see so much speckle. For example, comparing Dune 2 Dolby vision with my old HT3560 vs 20 Max, it looks so much brighter and colorful on the Max, but scenes with bright white sky’s in the desert showed lots of speckle (0 with lamp based projectors). Bright colored game characters (think Kirby) always had a rainbow speckle.- RBE is also somewhat bad. RBE is extremely visible in menus, and unfortunately video games have a lot of menus. Most obviously was Clair Obscur with the black character menus and white text in my testing. Looking at a characters dialog render on the screen shows it as well. I believe it’s not just this projector, but the limits of tri-laser technology that results in RBE and speckle.Overall, I returned the product and I have my eye on the upcoming XGIMI Titan, which is using different tech that shouldn’t have the same speckle and RBE. It appears to be more focused on movies, which is my use case, while the Horizon is more general purpose (i.e. gaming) and portable. As a second opinion, my wife has no idea what I’m talking about and thought everything looked great. I’m also sad to be using the HT3560 again and miss the Horizon already, but hope my patience pays off.

3D Beast Mode Activated
I picked up the XGIMI Horizon 20 Max last week and the feature I was most excited to test was the 3D performance. My Epson 5050UB has been great over the years but its 3D mode is noticeably dim, so I was hoping for an upgrade. The Horizon 20 Max absolutely delivered. The only hiccup I ran into was in the settings menu. A few picture enhancement options can make the 3D toggle unselectable, so the cursor would just skip over the 3D option. Once I reset those extra settings back to default, the 3D mode lit right up and worked perfectly. The 3D quality is a solid 10 out of 10. It is bright, vibrant, and the image easily punches through the glasses that normally cut a lot of light. The depth and clarity are incredible and the projector looks like it is running a higher frame rate. The overall image in 3D and 4K is about twice as sharp and smooth as what I get from my 5050UB. For a single chip DLP, that really surprised me in a good way.App support has been flawless so far. Disney, HBO Max, Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube TV, and YouTube all worked immediately. Some apps let me scan a QR code and others auto signed in through Google. I had zero issues getting everything running. The speed of the operating system is another big highlight. The processor in this thing is noticeably faster than my LG C4 TV. The menu navigation is instant, animations are smooth, and the whole system feels extremely responsive. I later found out it is using one of the newest MediaTek chipsets, newer than the one in the Valeron VisionMaster Max, and you can definitely feel that difference in day to day use.Overall the Horizon 20 Max has really impressed me. The 3D is the best I have seen on a projector I have owned, the brightness and sharpness are fantastic, the system is fast, and all the apps run without any issues. If you want a bright, clean, modern projector with killer 3D, this one is absolutely worth it.

I’ve been genuinely impressed with the XGIMI Horizon 20 Max. The brightness and image clarity are excellent, with sharp details and rich colors that look great even with some ambient light. HDR content looks especially good, and the overall picture feels very cinematic. The automatic focus and keystone correction work quickly and accurately, which makes setup incredibly easy every time I turn it on. I also appreciate how quiet the projector is during use, it never distracts from movies or shows. The built-in speakers are another pleasant surprise: clear, loud, and more than good enough for everyday viewing. The system runs smoothly, apps load quickly, and it feels well-built and premium. It’s been a reliable, enjoyable upgrade to my home entertainment setup, and I honestly look forward to using it. The picture quality is outstanding, bright, sharp, and vibrant even in rooms that aren’t completely dark. Movies, TV shows, and gaming all look fantastic. The built-in speakers are surprisingly powerful and clear, which means I didn’t need an external sound system right away. Autofocus and keystone correction are fast and accurate, making setup super easy. I also really appreciate how quiet it runs and how responsive the system is when navigating apps. Overall, this projector has completely upgraded my home entertainment experience. It feels like a premium product in every way and has been a pleasure to use. I have zero regrets about this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, reliable projector.Excellent projector, zero complaints. Highly recommended.

The XGIMI Horizon 20 Max is an excellent 4K projector with strong brightness and impressive sound quality. The picture looks sharp, vibrant, and clear even in rooms with some ambient light, making it great for movies, sports, and gaming. Its built-in speakers are surprisingly powerful, so you don’t always need an external sound system for casual viewing. One of the best parts is that you don’t need an ALR screen—it performs really well on a normal wall or regular projector screen. Overall, it’s a premium projector that delivers a big-screen cinematic experience with minimal setup hassle.

Just set up my XGIMI Horizon 20 Max and wow the video is absolutely stunning. The brightness is incredible even with ambient light, and the auto keystone correction nailed the alignment in seconds. Dolby Vision support makes movies look cinematic, and the built-in speakers are surprisingly powerful. Setup was a breeze straight out of the box. If you’re looking for a premium home cinema experience without a traditional TV, this is it. Highly recommend!
