Perfect upgrade for my motorcycle
Very happy with this screen. The display is bright even in sunlight, and the touch works smoothly. Bluetooth connected quickly and the navigation with voice control makes riding much safer. Also feels well-built and truly waterproof.

A simple and affordable way to add CarPlay to any motorcycle, but power wire design could be better.
I ordered this to use as a lower cost alternative to a dedicated motorcycle GPS unit like the Garmin Zumo. I have one of those on one of my bikes, and while it does work well (with some Garmin specific issues), I wanted to fina an affordable alternative for another bike that just uses CarPlay, and this Volam unit definitely meets my expectations and is something I would recommend to other riders, though it could be better in one aspect.Overall, this thing works an expected- the pairing with my phone was quick and easy, the screen is really bright and responds well to touch. So no issues with the functionality of the unit itself. While my main use will be for navigation via Google Maps it does, of course, support other CarPlay routing options like native Apple Maps, Waze and OnXOff Road, and others. I will also use it to answer phone calls (though I always stop riding to talk) and it does this just as easily as the factory CarPlay in my truck. I did briefly test the music play and that too works great. So again, it does all the CarPlay stuff just fine as one would expect, and with the large screen size (I wouldn’t want anything bigger on my bike) it is easy to manage any touch screen activity.I should also point mention that the included mount is of a really high quality, featuring stainless steel hardware and a cast aluminum mounting arm similar to Ram Mount style (and works with the Ram mount ball type base which I already had on my bike.) That said, I do wish the mounting arm was shorter since in my use it positioned the unit too close to my tank bag to avoid contact when making tight turns. I did use another, shorter mounting arm that I had on-hand so not a deal breaker, and this might not be an issue on other bikes or mounting preferences.So, why only a 4-star rating and not an outstanding 5-star review? Well, this is related to the design of the power cable, which I feel is sub-optimal for this application. The power cable is quite long, which is a good thing in terms of permanently connecting to your bike, but the power wires themselves are incredibly thin, like maybe 22 gauge or finer. I imagine this is okay for the power demand of the unit but the wires are so fine that it’s difficult to strip the insulation off them without breaking the wires. And this small diameter also makes it a bit challenging to use with standard types of crimp connectors. Not something that can;t be dealt with, but could be better. More importantly, the means to disconnect the unit from the power wire is through a unique/proprietary type of screw connector that makes it difficult to easily remove (like when the vehicle is parked where theft of the unit could be an issue) and seems like something that would break if used frequently. There is a port on the bottom of the unit to allow the use of a USB-C type power cord, but since this is accessed by removing three small screws (see photo), I’m not sure how well this connection would be protected from water. The instructions mention the availability of a USB-C power cable and I emailed the company about this but have yet to hear back. Perhaps this will come with some type of cover to block moisture. (I will update the review when and if I get an answer on this.) Finally, if you were to use a USB-C cable, then you would still have the wire coming out of the back of the unit which would need to be secured or maybe just taped-up.So overall, this is an easy and affordable way to add CarPlay functionality to any motorcycle, ATV or side-by-side. Or for that matter, I guess anything you could mount it to that have 12V power (lawn tractors? LOL) The screen is big, bright and responsive and has a nice user interface. For the price, it’s hard to go wrong this Volam unit.

Am guessing these are made in the same factory as Carpurdie as the look is the same. So far it has been flawless as it’s so cool having Apple Car Play on my Triumph Tiger 900.
