Definitely One To Have For Older Products With A Sony Caveat
Bluetooth adapters are great to have around for those older machines and even sometimes new ones, however, this comes with a big caveat on how great the performance is. If you own Sony products to use this one, you’ll see the high power performance. Otherwise, you’ll still do fine, but knowing you could have more power can be annoying. This UGREEN Bluetooth wall-plug receiver is one of those little gadgets that quietly solves a very specific problem: giving old or wired gear an easy, always‑on wireless audio upgrade. It is compact, about the size of a small power adapter, and only needs a nearby outlet plus the included 3.5 mm cable to breathe new life into non‑Bluetooth speakers, radios, or stereos. In daily use, it really is close to plug‑and‑play. Plug it into the wall, connect the 3.5 mm cable to an AUX input, pair your phone or other device, and you are streaming in seconds. Pairing is quick and stable, and the sound quality is quite good for a receiver in this class. For basic Bluetooth audio (SBC/AAC), it works just like any other adapter, but its support for Sony’s LDAC codec is what sets it apart, letting you push much higher bitrates and “hi‑res” audio—provided your source device also supports LDAC.That “hi‑res” angle is somewhat niche, though. iPhones do not support LDAC, and Windows still does not support it natively, so you really need compatible Android, Sony, or Linux hardware to get the full benefit. Without that, you are mostly paying extra for a capability you might never use. Even then, overall sound quality will always be limited by whatever old speakers or clock radio you are driving. What this adapter does exceptionally well is make those older, still‑perfectly‑good devices useful again, with minimal fuss. The main annoyance is the short included cable (around 3 feet), which can make placement awkward if the nearest outlet is not right next to your audio gear.

Easy connection, limited support for LDAC
Unfortunately in the world of bluetooth, there are many proprietary formats that make it difficult to maximize the performance of your audio equipment. LDAC is a Sony proprietary variant of this though it has more limited support than Qualcomm’s AptX or just general AAC and SBC. So in order to really harness the audio quality of LDAC, you need either Sony hardware (no your iPhone does not support LDAC) or a Linux PC (Windows does not support LDAC and Apple tries to stick to their own flavor of codecs).Having said all of that, this explains the higher cost of this adapter over others. If you have a Sony Walkman, and it doesn’t have dead batteries like mine does, you could play it through this interface at high bitrates, approaching 32-bit high-res audio. Without that, it defaults to standard formats. This is about as close as you can get to a “plug and play” system. You literally plug it into the wall and then can start playing through the mini connector. I wish it had included a USB power port, because it seems like just about any audio device now runs on USB power, and it would be convenient if this were able to do double-duty.Pairing is pretty easy from a phone or computer. It shows up and pairs quickly.Overall the device is small, compact, and masquerades as a USB charging block. The cord is pretty short considering you might be going from a wall to an audio device – it is about a meter long (3 feet) and honestly not super convenient. If LDAC is what you need though, and you want it to be stealthy, this might be a good route to go. Of course it works as a standard audio interface so you don’t absolutely need to use LDAC on it. But in that case you might be better off with a lower-cost bluetooth interface instead.

An Easy Way to Add Bluetooth Reception Ability with a Very Small Device
I am often impressed when I find a device that packs a good deal of sophisticated technology into a small package, and that is the case with this Bluetooth receiver. The receiver measures only about 1 ¾ inch by 1 ¼ inch, not including the electrical prongs that protrude from its body. The only other requirement to operate this device is a stereo cable with a 3.5mm plug on each end, which is included in the package. This tiny device has just one function: to provide Bluetooth receiving capability for a speaker or other piece of audio equipment that does not have Bluetooth reception ability built in.To test its operation, I plugged one end of the included audio cable into the Output port on the device, and the other end into the AUX input port on a pair of Kanto powered speakers, which do not have Bluetooth built in. Then I plugged the UGreen device into a nearby electrical outlet.I then turned on Bluetooth on my iPhone, and selected the UGreen device to connect to the phone via Bluetooth. Then I played some music on the phone, and it was received very clearly on the powered speakers. The sound quality was quite good.If you have a speaker or other audio device that does not have Bluetooth receiving ability built in, this little device can easily add that ability. One caveat is that the device needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet that is within a fairly short distance from the device that will be receiving the Bluetooth signal, because the connecting audio cable is only about 3 feet long. The device comes with a fairly detailed instruction sheet, and appears to be solidly constructed. If you have a need to add Bluetooth receiving ability to a speaker, this device does an excellent job.
