An excellent tool for anyone with a Diesel MH!
Plug and play…this is my second Scan GaugeD. i have used them in my Class A Diesel pusher motorhomes. The factory dash gauges in both motorhomes that I have owned were very inaccurate to say the least.As you know when headed up a grade it is important to know what your coolant temp is doing…with this tool I can see exactly what is going on….my dash gauge was reading 220 degrees wwhen the actual temp is 178 degrees! I double checked the temp with a laser thermometer and the dash guage was wrong. I lovew this product! Will neve operate a big RV without one!

Such a useful device!
This was easy to install and must have recognized my bus’s (1998 International 3800) computer right away because it immediately started putting out info on RPMs and water temp. Installation was as easy as plugging it in, it comes with an adapter from 6 to 9 pin (older vehicles like mine have either one of these two standard diagnostic port plugs), and it came with adhesive Velcro strips to stick the screen where I wanted to have it. It reads a lot more info than what appears on the screen, I was able to select the four digital gauges I wanted to appear as I drive from among all the different data streams the bus is always putting out. And it also scans for engine problem codes, fortunately I don’t have any right now.It has features related to fuel efficiency which I’ll get into using soon, I had to estimate my diesel tank volume based on its dimensions to provide the Scangauge with the tank size.The screen can be set to different illumination levels and also different colors, I found the green to offer very good contrast in daylight, the light blue was also good.I’ve known that my speedometer is off based on readings from other GPS devices, when it reads 55 I’m really going 60. This digital gauge let me input a correction percentage so it will display my true speed. I’ve seen some people advising having a second person adjusting the speed setting while you drive to calibrate it against a GPS device, but that seems silly/dangerous. Just have a passenger make a note of your speedometer vs GPS speed, then do the math next time you’re stopped and input the percentage difference. Mine was off by +9%. No need for monkeying around while you’re driving, just whip out your grade school math skills!This item has been a real great addition to my bus, in terms of making all this information available that previously could only be accessed by a mechanic in a shop. I wish I had bought one months ago!

Got this for an old RV that had dash panel issues – this provides me with critical information on RPM, Temps, speed, fuel usage, etc – and better still – the “round” diagnostic connector at the service-bay near engine was not the same as the connector at the dash – and tech support promptly figured out what cable was needed and sent it free of charge! I’m up and running and happy as a clam! Are clams happy? Hmm… Well, I am!

2005 Freightliner XC Chassis; CAT C7 350HP
My motorhome has the medallion display so I can get most of the information that this guage shows, however, it is nice to have 4 most commonly used gauges displaying at a glance, rather than having to change screens on the medallion. I mainly bought it because my coach did not come with a dedicated boost pressure guage (manifold pressure for the old guys). It helped me diagnose a bad pacbrake exhaust brake cylinder not retracting all the way. What was happening is the spring that retracts the exhaust brake had failed and it was not retracting all the way after the use of the exhaust brake. I felt like the coach was not performing as well as it normally had concerning the turbo boost. I was able to quickly install this and set the screens up the way I want and be able to see I was only getting 14 psi of boost instead of the 25 it should be producing. Replaced the pacbrake cylinder and all is well. The second time I was grateful I had this unit installed is I threw a code for the atmospheric pressure sensor on my CAT C7. This guage quickly told me what it was and I didn’t have to use the medallion to find out what the check engine light was. Super helpful.

I found the title of this product is confusing. It is a ScanGauge D
My RV sat for much of this winter and on the first road trip I discovered the engine temperature gauge did not work. I was unable to fix it. Searching the irv2.com web site many diesel pusher RV’ers recommended the ScanGauge D as an alternative fix I now have water temperature and much, much more information. I ordered it here, installed it and went thru the procedures to set up the X gauges. The company response was fast and helpful. Next week is the road trip. I’m sure this will be a handy and fun addition to may dash to help me manage my trips.

Over priced for what you get
I bought it to verify gauges. Does that. Now if you get a engine fault code. It will give you numbers to decipher via Google. Good luck with that. I have a C-15 MBN Caterpillar highway engine. Gives me numbers to try and figure it out. Flash codes are easier to find then this things codes. I will not purchase another. 1 good thing you can change the screen color to match your gauges. LoL should be a $50 tool.

Provided a lot of good data on my Cummins ISL engine
I bought this because I wanted real time data on the various information on my engine. It hooks up to the data port on the motorhome and you can select what data you want to monitor real time. You can choose from various background colors. It has good instructions and is fairly easy to use. I have the Addaline system on the motorhome but this gives more options. I am happy with it thus far.

It gives you 4 data points on the screen at one time. I think there 10 or 11 possibleI like coolant temp, average Mpg, Intake air temp and engine load.The screen color is changeable, and it has a function to estimate your remaining fuel in the tanks.So far it all works perfectly
