Ben Stein –
Sort of fits the First Alert REC5
This arrived (as ordered from RecPro, in my case) pretty much naked and alone, in a padded envelope with no screws, template, or instructions. It was immediately obvious that it wouldn’t fit the Kidde fire extinguisher that came with our RV.It needs something a bit shorter. After comparing specs online, I found it sorta nearly fits the First Alert REC5 fire extinguisher (ASIN B000Y4IKTU), The extinguisher bears a label that says, in part, “Model FE5GR”, in case that helps. I had to substitute the plastic strap that comes with the extinguisher for the one that came with this mount. As you can see from the pic, the handle is sorta wedged in, and the nozzle and gauge do stick out enough that something could catch on them. However, it looks like it will be better than simply hanging the extinguisher, fully exposed, on a thin faux-wood wall panel, without a single screw into a stud or frame member, as my RV manufacturer did. I’ll keep the original extinguisher around, in a cabinet somewhere, as a backup. It would be nice if the specs for the extinguisher this was meant to fit were available somewhere. A template would have been super-helpful, too. Do plan on providing your own screws (I think #8, probably).
