Living on Solar power – needed DC charging for laptops
We use solar power for all of our electricity and needed to be able to charge our laptops without the use of an inverter. These DC chargers are the perfect answer and they work great. I just starting using them 4 days ago so at this time I can’t say anything about their durability but they appear to be well made. We are happy with our purchase.

Very capable auto adapter for E5510
I was able to test this unit on my latest 1000-mile road-trip. The unit is nicely compact, has a very secure velcro strap and a sturdy 12V plug.One standout feature on this model that I noticed: the 12V plug has a red LED indicator to let you know the connection is secure and is receiving current, a very convenient detail.Unit was tested in a Toyota Sierra minivan. Cords were long enough to allow laptop usage in the middle row of seats, using the dashboard-located power outlets. Laptop used was a Latitude E5510. The Pwr+ charger was able to charge the battery and provide full wattage to the laptop with NO error or warning messages about insufficient or unrecognized power sources.In total, the minivan was able to serve this adapter, and a second adapter (two kids, two laptops, go figure) with no issues.Shipped free and on time (just in time for the holiday trip). Amazon came through for me.

Just what I needed.
I wanted to buy a car charger for my grand-daughter’s new (used) computer, but I wasn’t sure how to go about it. First I googled it and that was just too confusing. I decided to search “Dell car charger” on Amazon and just like that, there it was…exactly what I needed and what a good price too! This product fits her Latitude D610 perfectly and looks like it’s very well made. In fact, it looks just as heavy-duty as the regular Dell charger that came with the computer. It works just fine and I highly recommend it. Thank you, Amazon!Edit May 8, 2013We noticed that the charger has a nice tight fit where it plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car (which is a good thing), but you need to give it a very firm push to connect correctly. My little granddaughter doesn’t have the strength. My advice is that an adult should supervise if you want to keep your laptop charging properly. We’re still happy with our purchase.

Had Two of These Fail in 2 Years
Updated 11/20/2024I contacted PWR+ through Amazon about these two failed power adapters. One of them was still in warranty and the other was not. They asked that I send them a picture of the adapter that was in warranty with the cords cut off of it (to prove it was destroyed, instead of returning it to them), and they would send me a new one. I sent them a photo showing both adapters with the cords cut off and asked if they’d replace them both. They kindly agreed to replace both adapters on a one-time basis even though one of them was out of warranty. I thought that that was great customer service. I changed this review from 1 star to 3 stars based on the the great customer service and the hope that the new adapters will last longer than the old ones. But PWR+ also confirmed that they have not improved the design of this adapter, so I don’t have any great hopes that these new ones will last any longer than the first ones, given the way that I use them – which again, is not per their recommendations to “always plug in the charger first, wait for it to be fully powered on, and then connect it to the laptop”.Original Review:This adapter works good while it is working, but I have had two of them fail in about 2 years. Just a word of warning before buying this adapter, the manufacturer says to “always plug in the charger first, wait for it to be fully powered on, and then connect it to the laptop”. In my situation, I don’t do that. I leave the adapter plugged in at both ends all the time, and turn the power source to the automotive socket on and off about once a day. This may be why this device has failed twice on me. In my opinion, this device is not very well designed if plugging it in in the wrong order can make it fail. I will find a different brand of adapter that is more robust in its design. Buyer beware.

The concept is great, the purpose is needed. This charger works good for maintaining battery life on my Dell Vostro 1540. Charging was not apparent, and processor speed was reduced as well, while using this product.

efficient, worked with Alienware laptop (…until 2020: note new model in my review)
2017 review: Way more efficient than using an inverter and the factory (AC) power supply. Does not get hot unless charging and using at the same time. My Alienware laptop DOES warn me that it’s only 90W instead of the factory 240W supply, but it charges the battery just fine.2020 UPDATE: Owners of high-end Dell laptops may not be able to use this charger any more. My conclusion is that Dell took deliberate action to disable my non-Dell 12V charger with Dell’s recent update. I am not happy. Dell will not tell me which update was intended to disable working chargers, and how to uninstall that update. Dell does not make a 12V charger for my laptop, but PWR+ has an updated model (item B002UI2Y8Q) which works just fine! It’s 90W, and my 17 r4 came with a 240W AC charger, so it charges more slowly but it does charge even while in use.

Output is actually rated at 19.5v, 4.62A max. Without load, measured at 19.75v, same perfect voltage as my DELL LATITUDE 5591 AC brick’s DC output.I was worried a bit before seeing the actual adapter, because the item’s description is mistakenly listed as 19v 4.74A.This DC-DC adapter is good for either 90w or 65w DELL laptop. I have both, so it’s quite convenient. An excellent charger for using laptop outdoor. Cable is long enough and its main circuit size is much smaller than the AC brick.I use a 10A fuse to go with my small 12v LiFePO4 solar battery, as the power source recharging laptops. Tested, no problem at all.For outdoor usage, the DC-DC adapter method is quiet (no fan) and much efficient than using an inverter to do the DC-AC-DC conversation. In the past, when I used a 300w inverter with the original DELL AC brick, it could easily draw 11-18A from my 12v battery.A big plus: this adapter is UL listed. No doubt, good safety and quality. I am glad I bought it at such affordable price.

Great product. Since I bought this charger, its been real ease for me to use my laptop on the go. It has a 12 v plug that you can use with 12v cigarette slot in any car. Quickly charges laptop. Overall wonderful product. Would definitely recommend it.
