I used this with an iPhone and Android, and found it works similarly with each – not so well for us. While it should be a smooth interface to the existing Carplay or Android Auto controls, it was more hassle to me than I thought it should be. I see no advantage to “auto negotiating to switch to WiFi” over Bluetooth that seems to be the much touted advantage of these interfaces, nor was it easier to use once connected and working for me.The dongle is small and plugs into a USB-A port on your car. Or USB-C through the included adapter which is a nice touch.I admit through I want GOOD easy to use AUDIO mostly, I don’t want “everything integrated, particularily in a harder to use manner than a dedicated system JUST to the audio (relaying vocal GPS instructions and providing for music and netcasts/podcasts from my phone.). If you want “Carplay/AndroidAuto” features, total integration, and you have a clean Bluetooth environment, then your experience hopefully will be better than mineFor me, ease of connection, reliability, and speed are of the utmost for our audio to the car system from our phones’ needs. But this device was easily confused and you should remove ALL other Bluetooth devices from being paired with your phone or even existing/searching near by. Earbuds used by your kids in the back seat with their phones even seemed to upset it. Another speaker or headphones paired to your phone (reaching into your house) would not let it pair/handoff well in my garage from my phone to the car it is is physically in. I’m unwilling to remove all other Bluetooth devices or drive out of our driveway and then (while I’ve begun driving!) fiddle with this device by plugging it in and starting to try to make it work.I am rather disappointed in this much as I wanted it to work well (easily and transparently, automatically connecting when I start the car with our phones inside/near it). I am back to using Bluetooth to FM adapters in my vehicles since there are less problems even though the pure sound fidelity is probably less with their extra “encode-to-FM and receive analogue” step. I also find the controls easier as physical buttons ON such devices (stop/play/pause/answer/forward/back) better than touch buttons of CarPlay/Auto on phone and car infotainment systems. So I am no longer using this device, but it did seem to work if you want Carplay/Auto functionality and have a clean environment of a single phone and user (no passengers with their own bluetooth operations), etc.

Great little adapter for the money
Update, dead after 2 monthsGiven the small size of this Android Auto adapter, I didn’t have high hopes. Usually these little adapters overheat or struggle with extended use, but this one’s been great so far. Setup was quick and easy, and it’s nice not having to deal with a bunch of wires anymore. It also includes a USB-C adapter, which is handy if your car supports it. The connection has been solid without any lag or dropouts, even on longer drives. The build feels lightweight but doesn’t get hot like some others I’ve tried. Overall, I’m very happy with the cost, performance, and value.

Wireless works as good as a wired connection
Test this wireless Apple Carplay/ Android Auto adapter in a 2022 Honda Civic with both iPhone and Samsung phone. It works perfectly with both phones. Connecting is immediate once you start the car, no disconnection even on long drive. It stay cool to the touch. There’s no lag showing directions. It also comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter for car that has only USB-C out.The only drawback is that the unit is not low profile. It sticking out too much and if you add the USB-C adapter that would be way too long, minus a star for that reason.

connects to android auto easily
I’m using this adapter with android auto. Setup was easy and straightforward – just need to pay attention the bluetooth device list. Like many of these types of adapters, they begin booting up once the car accessories power is turned on. In my experience, in those cases when the accessory power is turned on way before the car is turned on, the adapters don’t always initiate the car’s android auto app properly. Turning the car on immediately upon entry is no issue and the adapter always connects right away.I didn’t experience any lag in data while using maps. Seems to have a strong connection. The quality of the adapter is nice. Size wise, it’s compact and doesn’t have a lot of weight. Works well.
