Strong hold but takes effort to position
Once this mount is in place, it holds very securely. The magnet is strong enough that my phone did not move while driving. The suction base also stayed put on the dashboard. The only challenge was getting the placement just right since the suction is strong and not easy to reposition quickly. After that, it worked reliably and charged as expected.

Sturdy, Nice-Looking MagSafe Car Mount—But Ring Light Is Bright and Charging Was Inconsistent
My previous MagSafe car mount charger finally gave up on me, so I picked this one up as a replacement. After using it for several drives (including at night), I have a mixed but fairly clear impression of what it does well and where it could be improved.A big plus is the included 5-foot cable. That extra length let me put the mount in my ideal viewing spot—much farther from the DC charger than where I could place my old mount—so I didn’t have to settle for an awkward position.Because my dashboard isn’t perfectly smooth, I used the included metal plate. The small pull tab on the plate is a genuinely helpful detail: if I ever need to remove it, I can lift it cleanly without digging at the edges. The suction cup grips tightly to the plate and has stayed put, even when the car gets hot. The magnet also feels strong, and the phone “snaps” into position when it connects.One issue I noticed at night is the illuminated ring. It’s useful for confirming the mount is getting power, but when my phone isn’t attached, the ring light is bright enough to be distracting on the dashboard. I really wish there were an option to turn the light off when the mount is powered but not actively holding a phone.Charging reliability was also inconsistent for me with an iPhone 15 Pro Max in a MagSafe-compatible case. It would initially turn green and start charging, but after a while it began flashing red and stopped charging. I found that attaching the phone upside down increased the chances that charging would continue, but it still wasn’t consistent every time. If it simply didn’t charge, I could live with that—but the flashing red light is hard to ignore, and repeatedly repositioning the phone to find a “working” alignment became frustrating.Even though I couldn’t position the USB port perfectly straight down, the metal-and-silicone build feels sturdy and looks nicely finished. I just wish it would charge my iPhone reliably every time I attach it. If it happens to work smoothly with your phone and case combination, it could be a good value—but in my setup, it wasn’t dependable enough.
