Great as a receiver – as a transmitter it could be tricky
I got this so that I could add a Bluetooth option to an old set of computer speakers that I had saved. This worked brilliantly for that purpose. Trying to use it as a Bluetooth transmitter was a different experience.First off, the adapter is compact, with a flexible 3.5 MM plug on one end. There is a USB-C port for charging, and on/off button, and a switch to change it from receiver (RX) to transmitter (TX). The kit includes a two-prong adapter that may still be needed on some airplanes. The unit charged quickly with the included USB-C cable. I set it to RX and plugged it into the audio jack on my old speaker set. Pressing and holding the power button puts it into paring mode (the LED flashes blue), and my tablet found it tight away and connected easily. I was able to play music, and to my ears, it sounded great.Transmit mode was not as easy. Moving the switch to TX and putting in paring mode (the LED flashes red), is the easy part. My headphones, however, did not seem to find the transmitter. It’s hard to know the problem since it is not possible to see what the transmitter might be trying to connect to. There is no screen to indicate it on the Bluetooth adapter, and of course, my headphones don’t have one either. There are a lot of Bluetooth devices in my house, so I don’t know what the transmitter might have been trying to connect to.I like adapter. It is not expensive and works great for me as a Bluetooth receiver. Using it as a transmitter could be a challenge, though.

Works, but is annoying to use
I have been using this in my truck to convert the aux to bluetooth. It works well with no noise and music sounds clear, but I have to turn the device on every time I want to use it. It does not turn on with signal as most other bluetooth receivers I have used do, which is inconvenient. Sometimes it also does not play audio, but that may be more of an error on my end. It does not always pair, and sometimes it pairs too well and continues to be connected to my phone even when the truck is off. This is a feature as it does have an internal battery, but it can be confounding at times. The image also shows it bent, but it does not hold a bend at all. It more allows it to droop. Overall, I would not recommend this as a bluetooth receiver. I cannot comment personally on the transmitter function. I have no way to test this functionality.

Perfect receiver; transmitter is a bit hit-and-miss
I’m giving this adapter four stars because it is a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the Receiver (RX) mode works perfectly. It was easily scanned by my smartphone and paired smoothly. Music playback through the receiver, to the AUX port of my amplified speakers, is crisp, clear, and has no noticeable delays, which is exactly what I was hoping for. However, the Transmitter (TX) mode is quite tricky to use. Since the device doesn’t have a screen to select a specific connection, it tends to pick up a device randomly or based on its own internal criteria. This is especially frustrating when multiple Bluetooth devices are nearby, as it often pairs with something other than what I intended. I imagine this would be quite impractical in busy environments like airports or trains where dozens of signals are competing. It’s a great little device for receiving audio, but the transmitting side requires some patience! In comparison, there are a few other similar products being sold at Amazon with a small LCD screen to choose a device from a list for pairing — I had one of them and was more than satisfied (I am not going to share the brand/model here though).I initially got this with an intention to broadcast the music from my vintage cassette player to bluetooth speakers / earbuds. With the limitation above, I decided to use it as a BT receiver for my conventional 3.5mm-plug ear buds, so that the ear buds can be transformed into “BT ear buds”. However, I realized that in order to do this, I also needed a female-to-female adapter as this device has a fixed male output. Luckily, I had one F-F adapter laying around from a previous BT transmitter purchase, which solved the problem. Also in comparison, there are similar products being sold at Amazon which come with a female in/out port, with a male-to-male adapter for more flexible connection; where as my previously owned product came with a fixed male cable, with a free female-to-female adapter. With all these observations and comparisons, I am rating the product four-star.

Handy device for adding Bluetooth for most devices
+ConnectionVery easy to add Bluetooth connectivity to older devices with only an auxillary port. Device was recognized almost immediately and pairing is fast. I mainly used it in receiver mode (RX). Transmitter mode (TX) may have an issue if there is more than one device nearby as I’m not sure how you can choose which device it will have connection. For both modes included instructions for connecting are clear and have accompanying pictures. Did not experience any dropouts or change in clarity while driving or walking around. The connector is also flexible near the tip and can rotate in nearly any direction.+SoundQuality was same as any wired connection. When using my cell phone in the car, the quality was better than directly connecting it through the aux port. I figure this is due to the cell phone’s amplifier being weak. Music, GPS directions and calls were very clear. I don’t think there is any active noise cancelling present, but there is definitely reduction in exterior noise.+BatteryLifetime is listed as 12 to 15 hours with a 2-hour charging time. My usage was around 15 hours but some of that was in standby mode. Charging only took about an hour from almost empty to full. Uses a standard USB-C cable for charging. Cable included is 1 foot in length.+SummaryGood value if you need to add Bluetooth functionality to devices which don’t natively support it. Can save quite a bit of money so you don’t needlessly upgrade just for wireless connectivity.
