    Excellent solution to sun-drenched patio
This is the second set of patio curtains I’ve made using this Coolaroo sunshade material. The previous material is still in good condition, but I wanted to change the style and remake with some improvements to style. Wheat color is nice, not too light or too dark. Provides a great sunblock. Quality is great. The raw ends of the fabric were a bit uneven. I laid the fabric out on our tiled floor and to measure and cut. Only had to remove about an inch to even up one end, but I expected this to be the case. The fabric was easy to sew on using a standard sewing machine needle. I easily hemmed the bottom and top to create a neat, clean look for the patio and to provide the option of hanging the curtains using a rod pocket and curtain rod if desired. Instead I’ve found that using clip on curtain rings on the metal curtain rod works best, because the fabric is somewhat stiff. Very satisfied. The previous curtain fabric has lasted over 10 years+, even in the brutal west sun-facing patio of the New Mexican high desert.

This was one of the best purchases ever
This was one of the best purchases ever! I wish I would have known about this fabric years ago. Plus, you can’t beat the price. It really keeps the place cooler and so far, I haven’t pulled out the air conditioner. We have a huge window facing west and when the sun comes out it gets extremely hot inside. I purchased this fabric, cut it down to window size, leaving several inches of extra fabric on each side, then use and push pins to secure it to the outside of the window. The fabric blocks the sun rays which would normally turn the place into a hot house. It’s amazing. The temperature is considerably cooler inside. There is still some light that comes through and you can see outlines of trees through the weave. This is a much better method then using black out curtains and having a dark room. When the temperature is cooler, I simply unpin it from the window and roll it up to use on another hot day. I also use this on my door that faces West and has Windows at the top half. There is plenty of fabric for more uses however, I just have the window and door that need to be blocked from the sun. When I ordered this I had two colors in mind. Then I noticed they had different levels of blocking UV rays. I chose wheat since it blocks 80% of the UV rays. There are many uses for this fabric, it would be a great patio cover and can also be used as a privacy screen. You will not be disappointed. You can also use a curtain rod at the top and hand stitch the fabric so it stays on. I did that and just pin the sides so the wind will not blow it. Hope this helps you decide!

Great solution for hot, sunny windows
After realizing we could cool our house much more efficiently by covering our hottest windows, I set out to find the perfect material for the job. Some people put in blackout drapes. Others use reflective emergency blankets or even aluminum foil. But the problem was that we enjoyed the natural light in these rooms, just not the heat from the unrelenting direct sunlight. This fabric was the perfect solution. Some light still comes in, so my children can play in their room in the daytime without turning the light on, but it is MUCH more comfortable, and when it’s super hot our AC doesn’t have to run nearly as much. This is a big deal in the south. To cover our windows, I cut this fabric lengthwise between the white threads. This way, the long sides won’t easily fray. For the top and bottom, I was able to turn it up a couple of inches and hem it on my sewing machine, leaving a pocket for a tension rod at the top and a dowel at the bottom. I then hung it inside the window frame, as close as possible to the window, and the dowel at the bottom rests on the windowsill and holds the fabric straight. For our metal back door, I used strong magnets to stick the fabric directly to the door. Both methods will make these coverings easily removable come winter, when we want as much sunlight as we can get coming in to help heat things up a bit. There is a lot of fabric on this roll! I was able to cover three windows, one a large double window, with leftovers. I’m sure it has already paid for itself. I may use the rest to shade the sunny side of my tent when I sell crafts at our local farmers’ market–I bet it would be great for that too!

Worked for what I needed it to.
This was my first time using this product for building a shade canopy over my pergola. It worked out great and since this was my first design I will buy this again to build upon my lessons learned. Some of my design for my pergola cover was not supported by the material.Pros: Worked out great and let in lots of light without all the blazing heat. The roll allowed me to design what I needed to fit over my pergola. It stood up to some pretty heavy winds this summer (Colorado winds). The material worked as expected.Cons: I had to buy 2 rolls and each roll was a different length by over 1 foot. I used grommets to make connection/tie down points and this caused the material to be cut by the grommets in one place i got a little zealous on the grommet install (Of course this material is not designed for using grommets). Goop fixed the issue though. This material is not hemmed on the ends and the ends are uneven, but they did not fray. The sides are also not hemmed but they are slightly reinforced. After unrolling there is a crease down the middle of each roll that never came out.Like I mentioned, my install design was not fully supported by this material, which I knew of. It still worked out great though. I will be buying 2 more rolls to improve upon my original design though. This material is not waterproof. My parents commented on how well it looked and worked for what I used it for and commented they should get this material as well to put up a sun shade.

The description is not accurate – it says the material color is “Beech” but is actually “Graphite” (very dark gray).
