Pretty cool little device
I have tried this in 2 vehicles — a 2012 Tacoma with an aftermarket head unit, and a 2024 Ranger Raptor. It worked great in both, but I wasn’t able to get the Bluetooth to connect in the head unit in the Tacoma. But I’m running an aftermarket Android-based head unit, so that is most likely the issue. This device is intended to mimic a wired connection, so it can be used to either add wireless for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay to an otherwise wired-only vehicle, or it can improve the connection by simulating a wired interface in a car that already has wireless AA or ACP. If you have used the wireless connection, you know the frustration of music cutting out and the ridiculous lag between audio and video.I don’t have an Apple phone, so for the purpose of this review, I will focus only on the Android Auto interface. The instructions are tiny, but fairly thorough. You first delete your phone from the car and delete your car from the phone (both WiFi and Bluetooth) to prevent them from defaulting to these connections. For Android Auto, your phone connects to the head unit using WiFi for most everything except phone calls, and uses Bluetooth for phone calls, so you need to delete/forget both connections.Once your phone and the car connections are cleared, you insert the dongle into an AA/ACP-compatible USB-A or USB-C port (the dongle is USB-A, but a USB-C adapter is provided). AA/ACP-compatible ports will have a white outline around them in newer vehicles, but older vehicles without the white line, like my Tacoma, might still be compatible if you have installed a newer head unit and connected the USB harness to it.After the dongle is connected, with your vehicle on (or in accessory mode), you will connect your phone to the Autolink-xxxx WiFi. If it asks for a password, use “12345678” but it might not ask for one. Once connected, it should initiate the AA connection and prompt you to connect via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth connection will be to your car, not the dongle, but your WiFi should remain connected to Autolink-xxxx.That’s pretty much it. The audio is crystal clear and doesn’t cut out. The audio lag for video is still there a little bit, but not nearly as bad as before (it’s just slightly more laggy than a wired connection). The start-up connection is about the same in the Ranger and a little faster than before in the Tacoma. The dongle does get warm, but so far that doesn’t seem to be an issue (at least not now in the winter — I’ll update if it takes a turn for the worse in the summer).Overall, this simple little device has solved a very frustrating issue that seems to be plaguing many people. I literally don’t understand how the wireless connections built into vehicle head units have not been able to find a workaround to this.

Eliminates wires and clutter.
These mini adapters are a game changer. Eliminates the clutter of wire connection and makes the storage area below vehicle connection point usable again. Installation is simple. Plug the unit in, follow instructions on your IPhone to connect using bluetooth and you are done. Now every time i get into the vehicle it automatically connects. To this point i have never had any lag or dropped connection. It has functioned perfectly. Sound quality to me is the same as when connected with a cable. It has saved me money as i have cancelled multiple Sirius XM accounts and using the streaming services on my phone. It’s nice not having to remove your phone from your pocket to connect to your vehicle. Well priced for the convenience it provides.
