Does the Job, But Occasionally Shakes
Admittedly, I am a phone holder neophyte. I’ve always thought a phone holder would be too confining but in using this TNAIYH device for the last several days, I’ve learned that I was mistaken. An old dog can learn new tricks.Because I’m new to such a tool and because instructions weren’t included in the box, it took me too long to assemble the thing.One piece in particular, the bolt that stabilizes the ball, gave me a fit. I couldn’t figure out how to attach it, so initially I left it off. Then after a day or two of the device shaking too much — which causes the phone to shake too much — I gave it another go and figured it out. The resulting fix provided much improved stability, though it’s still not perfect. Hint: Good instructions would have have helped a lot!Part of the lack of ideal stability seems to stem from the base which feels a little loose. If the base is loose, everything else is going to move.Early on, apparently I didn’t stick the base down with enough force because it came loose, detaching from my dash, falling with my phone in it. I’m glad I was there to catch it. Thankfully my car wasn’t moving at the time.Since I have nothing to compare it to, I don’t know if my expectations are too high, but I think it’s fair to expect no movement at all. This car phone holder offers decent support for my phone, but could be improved, even on a smooth road.If nothing better comes along, I’m pretty happy with this phone holder. For the most part, it seems well made. I really appreciate being able to rotate my phone to landscape view when optimal. And the vice-like function works flawlessly, closing to lock the phone snugly and setting it free with the push of a button.

Very versatile and well made, just wish it was a little longer
This seems well built and I was able to follow the direction and attach to the windshield without problems. For my application on an old Nissan pickup, I’d have liked if it could reach just 1 or 2 inches further so I could attach to the windshield and clear the dash.The portion that holds the phone grabs it by 3 sides. If I want the cord coming down from the bottom there is a space for it on the underside, but it needs to be a straight connector. The opening isn’t big enough for a 90 degree connector to fit through.I put this next to the one I had in my truck. I was hoping this would be an upgrade, but I’m on the fence as to which is better. This one is a cleaner installation because it just attaches to the windshield. But I have to position a little more obstructing my view because it isn’t long enough to let the phone drop below the dash.I’ll try both for a while and see which to keep as the primary long term.
