I did some detailed testing with a regulated industrial 12V DC power supply with detailed meters on it to see how this device responds and regulates it’s output.It did surprisingly well actually.I measured the input and output voltage and current while charging with various loads and input voltages since a car 12V lighter voltage can be high or low depending if the vehicle motor is ON or OFF at the time.Engine running may have 14V or more applied at the 12V socket or as low as 12 – 12.8V if the engine is off.The USB 5V output was rock steady regardless and completely regulated to 5.0V even as I varied the 12V DC input source from 7V to 14V DC. which is farther than it will ever see in actual use.The chart below was measured while charging a modern cell phone at around 5watts rate (1 amp) at the time.Input Volts Input Current Output Volts Output current (to the cell phone)7V 1.0A 5.0V 1.2Amps8V 0.9A 5.0V 1.0Amps9V 0.7A 5.0V 1.2Amps10V 0.7A 5.0V 1.2Amps11V 0.6A 5.0V 1.2Amps12V 0.5A 5.0V 1.2Amps13V 0.5A 5.0V 1.3Amps14V 0.4A 5.0V 1.3Amps14V 0.003 amps 5.0V 0.0 Amps. That’s how these should work but I’m surprised it regulated that well.They should release a version of this in a small block with screw terminals on it for outdoor use or hobby solar projects since it easily provides a proper, regulated USB output from any voltage source from 7V up to 24V DC, such as solar panels may have.I also tested the input leakage current.With the unit powered on and connected to 12V but no load applied (nothing plugged into it)it drew only 0.003 amps (3mA) which is fine.Some vehicles leave the 12V lighter socket working on at all times and this charger won’t draw enough to bother the battery even for months of sitting there. The leakage current is very low and is probably just enough to run the LED.So far, this gets 5 stars for a fairly well though out design.

Car charger base: Good concept and execution
I’ve had it for about a week. I chose to use my own YSB-C to C cord. It works great.I purchased it after buying g a new iPhone. This cell needs a USB-C. The first car charger I purchased (a different mfr. and seller) had a typical coiling cord. However, that one shorted out Almost immediately.So, I chose this one without the cord and with a USB-C port. This should avoid the common ways chargers fail.This one arrived quickly, was well packaged and has a sleek design.I like it so far!

Works great for iPhone and Android
I’ve been using this for over a year and it has worked great even when charging 2 devices at the same time. Cables fit well. Fast charging on iPhone and Android is excellent. Doesn’t seem to get hot. The only issue I have is that sometimes I have to push the charger into the outlet because it doesn’t fit sure snug into the outlet. But for the price and the performance, I can live with that as i don’t have to do it super often.
