Print the directions, learn the details, it is worth the effort, it really simplifies road travel.
We do not use “smart phones” however this device is something we have known about for years. At 80+ maps and directions became a tedious lengthy chore. We thought try out the Garmin on a recent trip and with some programing practice it turned out to be extremely helpful beyond all expectations. We are no longer driving anywhere now without it. Programing is not complicated but practice does matter since you need to read as well as click on symbols in combination to enter, save, and use the location information. If you make mistakes just keep working on it and we are confident that in no time the value in using it will become readily apparent. It always knows where you are geographically, has saved info on numerous locations, you can easily add your own and change things while in transit. We mount it inside on the windshield so that the driver and passenger can both view the display. A woman’s voice supplies advanced directions, it simply works great. You enter information on a touch screen do not use your finger the eraser end of a pencil works without error and does not harm the screen. Once home we deleted all the travel locations and entered our local information. If you make a wrong turn it knows it and directs you back on the route. Please understand that the route it chooses may not be your first or regular choice. It appears to us that it is always looking for the shortest distance between the two points. We always use a toll road to reach our local airport but Garmin wants to use the interstate so we just ignore it and take the toll road and it calculates new directions automatically along the way. We should have purchased this device years ago.

It works great so far thanks

  3. Charles Brice

    Not bad though
It was good, but it did not work for me. It was a good price though, and I believe it was great product, but it just didn’t have all the features and stuff that I needed for buses or tractor trailer

    Memory Card Required
VERY sad that I have to return this “Renewed” Garmin Drive 52 DPS Navigator…..When you first receive it, you should update it to latest verion of maps through Garmin Express. Easily done. However, it is then you quickly learn that the device’s internal memory is full. Even after I checked the Garmin’s settings to “Delete Data and Reset Settings”, a memory card is still required. So to get your FREE map updates, you need to purchase a microSD card with at least 4 GB storage capacity. What?!! You are reqired to purchase a $29.99 microSD card to keep your Garmin maps updated?!!I was trying to save this Garmin and give it a good home, while Amazon needs to be aware that a memory card is needed when they sell this item. It was returned for a full refund.

    Faulty unit it seems
I have had several garmins including an old but excellent handheld one. This was to replace an older Nuvi 40. It should be a straight install and get my old trips across. I had a number of problems, one being that the touch screen is off register using the letter next to the one I pressed. I think after 3 hours messing this has to go back and I’ll think again.
